The Canon PowerShot G5 will produce images exceptionally clean.
Focusing is very sharp and accurate, image quality is excellent.
If having 4 megapixel is good enough for you, I would suggest going with the Canon PowerShot G3 which present the same characteristics as the PowerShot G5 except for the megapixel.

The digital camera PowerShot G3 is an excellent alternative but might be more difficult to find. Should be cheaper but because it's now discontinued might be as expensive at the G5.
